The Starting
Like any other young man, he completed his graduation in Commerce with first class. He also studied Diploma in Computer Science and E-Commerce. He has competed B.COM. LLB. Dr. Shantanu Sinha is a Doctorate in Philosophy in Social Work (Honoris Causa). After having completed his studies, he started working as a Technical Consultant of a Software Industry in the year of 2002. Thereafter, from the year 2003-2011, he was busy with his own IT business. As luck would have it, the technological world could not give him the satisfaction, that the creative arts could. Currently, he is a Social Activist and Film Director in his own right.
A self-motivated individual, his heart craved for something more. And, it had to be the creative arts. This led him to discover his innate talents. He started engaging in documentaries, music albums, stories, poems, and photography. He took a mammoth step, with the launch of his Bengali News Channel ‘Shine TV24x7’. It was in 2014. Additionally, he also made foray into production, with his own production house.
Milestones
- Between 2014-2016, he joined as the Executive Council Member N.I.O.H. (under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India).
- The year 2016 saw him becoming a member of the Eastern India Motion Picture Director Association. And there was no looking back, thereafter. He came up with his first Bengali Film ‘Chakrir Fande’ with a censor certificate.
- In the year 2017, he released his Bengali Short Film ‘Drishti’.
- In 2017, he came up with his own weekly Newspaper, titled ‘Murshidabad Highlights’.
- In 2016, Dr Sinha opened his NGO named Ashray Social Welfare and Cultural Foundation. The NGO is dedicated to the well-being of the mentally challenged children. The ultimate motive of the foundation is to extend a hand towards the helpless women of the society. The organization also provides training and support to the mentally challenged children and destitute women.
- Dr Shantanu Sinha launched ‘Shine Production’ Web Portal and ‘Shine Production’ Mobile App in the year 2019. The Mobile App serves as a platform for newcomer artists. The production Web Portal is a first of its kind in Eastern India. Currently, it is India’s Largest Talent Portal. All artists can sign up on the app or the portal, and upload their performances. It creates a data pool for the Cinema industry to bank on.
- Apart from launching his own production and talent portal, he also launched ‘Calendar Girl 2020’. The chief contributor was the man himself in terms of curation, conceptualization, and photography.
- Dr. Sinha became member of Directors Association of Eastern India on 2020.
- Dr. Shantanu Sinha also became lifetime member of WORLD HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION COMMISSION on June 2021.
- Dr Shantanu Sinha’s coming bengali film ‘Anuraag’ will be released very soon, starring Devdut Ghosh, Ananda Chowdhury, and Priyanka Bhattacharya. The story, screenplay and dialogues are made by the director himself. It is a slice-of-life film.

My Achievements
- Dr Shantanu Sinha was awarded the 2nd Indian Excellency Award 2019 as ‘Entrepreneur & Social Activist’ on 8th December 2019.
- He was also awarded the 6th Bharat Gourav Ananya Samman 2020 as ‘News Editor and Film Director’ on 4th November 2020.
- He also received the 9th Banga Gourav Ananya Samman 2020 as ‘Corona Warriors’ on 30th December 2020.
- Honorary Doctorate from World Human Rights Protection Commission under the Ministry of External Affairs (Govt. Of India) in association with UNESCO, British Council, IAEA, and United Nation was conferred upon him. Dr Shantanu Sinha has been honoured with degree of “Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph. D) in Social Work (Honour Causa) and lifetime membership in 2021.
- Dr Shantanu Sinha achieved “Best Social Activist Award” state of issue West Bengal in field of Social Activist & Social Entrepreneur from “Magic Book of Record” presents BEST ACHIEVER AWARD 2021, Faridabad, Haryana.
- A symbolic procession was organized by Dr. Shantanu Sinha, secretary of the Ashsray Social Welfare and Cultural Foundation, protesting the abnormal rise in petrol and diesel prices. Jagannath Dev, Balaram and Subhadra are sitting in the chariot to take him to the hospital by ambulance. But how can the price of petrol and diesel keep the chariot going? In order to raise this question, an ambulance with a patient was arranged in a chariot, pulled by rope and marched on foot from Boubazar junction to Calcutta Medical College. All the members of “আশ্রয়” joined with us in this protest procession on 13.07.2021.
- The official Trailer and Poster of the new Bengali Film “Anuraag” directed by Shantanu Sinha, was released on 03.12.2021 at Kolkata Press Club.
- Achieved the Best Director Award for the film “ANURAAG” from famous Bollywood Actress Shazahn Padamsee
- Achieved ‘Certificate of Excellence’ Award for the film “ANURAAG” from India’s best film festival “Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2022”
- Achieved “Certificate of Special Mention” Award for the film “ANURAAG” from “Indian International Short Film Festival Award Season-2”
- Achieved “India Star Best Film Director 2022 Award” for the Film “ANURAAG” from MTTV INDIA
- Achieved “Certificate of Achievement” from famous Bollywood Film Director “Madhur Bhandakar”.
- Achieved “8th Bharat Gourav Ananya Samman 2022” from Indian Institute of Journalist.
